Dr. Samuel C. Tolbert, Jr.
President/CEO
Tolbert has dedicated his life to service. He has been the pastor of Greater St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana for 40 years. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Board of Supervisors for Southern University System in Baton Rouge, Shreveport and New Orleans, Louisiana, a member of the Board of Trustees of Fuller Theological Seminary located in Pasadena, CA, Phoenix, AZ, and Houston, Texas, and Chairman of Board of Trustees at Simmons College of Kentucky, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He is a recognized civic leader who has served 4 years as a Commissioner for the Lake Charles Housing Authority, 12 years as a representative of District “A” on the Lake Charles City Council, and served as a member of the Board of the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation.
His accomplishments reflect his dedication to his faith, education, and service. He attended McNeese State University, majoring in Radio and Television Broadcasting, Delta School of Business, majoring in Office Specialist, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Historic Bishop College, formally of Dallas, Texas. He attended Shaw Divinity School and holds a Master of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary, Wilberforce, Ohio. He earned a Doctor of Ministry from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.
He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the oldest intercollegiate historically African American fraternity. He is the President and CEO of Royal Magnolia Enterprises (RME) a company he formed in 2018. RME is a consulting and distribution company. He has traveled around the world to the Bahamas, Canada, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Guyana, Haiti, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Norway, Mexico, Panama, South Africa, Switzerland, and Zimbabwe.
He lives in Lake Charles, LA, with his wife of 37 years, Matilda E. Tolbert, Vice-President of RME. They have two adult daughters, Candace and Kayla.
